Our coherently planned academic curriculum is underpinned by our school values and uses the EYFS or National Curriculum (DfE 2014) as the basis for content and expectations. We have structured this as follows:

• Progression overviews and medium term plans provide a coherent and structured curriculum that builds knowledge sequentially ensuring pupils are ready for the next stage in their learning. 
• Retrieval practice are used on a regular basis in all subjects to provide regular opportunities to retain knowledge.
• Planned lessons with a high proportion of independent learning, choice and collaborative activity.
• Assessment is ongoing through retrieval practice, low-stake quizzes, questioning and answering big questions. There is regular feedback between children and teachers. 

Within all areas of the curriculum, we strive to close the gap between all pupils and vulnerable groups by employing adaptive strategies and a graduated response including focused interventions for targeted support.
