Senacre Wood Primary School is committed to the continuous raising of achievement of all our pupils. Regular attendance is critical if our pupils are to be successful and benefit from the opportunities presented to them. Because of this we have high expectations for attainment and we believe that pupils should aim for 100% attendance.
We recognise that parents/carers have a vital role, as well as a legal responsibility to ensure good attendance and we aim to work in partnership with parents/carers, pupils and other agencies to resolve attendance problems and provide support where needed.
'Morning Activities' take place before the register therefore, this is a crucial time for your child and their learning. As an incentive, to support pupils with attending school every day, and for arriving punctually, each week, during celebration assembly, the class with the highest percentage of attendance and the class with the least 'lates', receive 5 minutes additional break time. The class with the highest attendance also have attendance Ted visit their classroom for the week.
It is important that children are not late for school. Late arrival in the classroom disrupts lessons and can be upsetting for your child. Learning and activities happen from the moment your child steps through your do, as do carefully planned interventions and discussions.
If your child is absent from school for any reason, it is essential that you let us know the reason by calling 03000 658430 or emailing office@senacre-wood.kent.sch.uk. This needs to be followed by written confirmation, in the form of a short note, on your child’s return to school.
All non-emergency medical appointments should be made out of school time. For children's safety, no child will be allowed to leave school premises, during the school day, unless accompanied by a responsible adult.

We do expect high attendance for all pupils and leave of absence is only authorised for exceptional circumstances.
The Headteacher may authorise absences in ‘exceptional circumstances’ but this must be requested in advance and agreement to each request is at the discretion of the Headteacher, acting on behalf of the Governing Body. Each case will be judged on its merits and the Headteacher’s decision is final.
