EYFS

Term 1

In Oak Class this term we have been creating lots of different art work. We started off the term by doing a project linked to the book, "Journey" by Aaron Becker. Each class in the school had to create a display based around a different page of the book. We had to paint lots of brown trees on corrugated card and use sponges to make a bark effect.

We then worked on some self-portraits. We looked in the mirrors at our skin colours and had to try to mix paints to make the different skin tones. We had to look carefully at our eyes to try to paint them the correct colours.

After that we started some very early Christmas cards! Our cards get sent home so that if our parents want to buy some they get printed and turned into real cards! We did hand printing for our cards. Some of us made Santas and some of us made reindeer.

After that we were reading ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’. We made bears by carefully ripping up paper and sticking it down to create the shape of a bear. We had to use a pen to add on the facial features at the end.

Term 4

This term, Oak class have been getting stuck into Spring with lots of Spring arts and crafts! We made tulip inspired cards for Mother's Day, cutting out the flower pots and sticking everything on our cards. We hope our Mummy's loved them!
We have also been thinking about the early signs of Spring and what to look out for, including flowers, bees and butterflies. We used a selection of Spring colours to decorate and collage some butterflies. We had to tear the tissue paper carefully and think about the collage and colours on the butterflies.

Term 6

Oak class have been thinking about all things under the sea. In our first art lesson, we made a giant beach scene on the ground, using chalk, sea creatures and shells. Then, we added real water, pretending it was the sea waves. We have also been exploring the story of 'The Rainbow Fish'. We each made our own rainbow fish, thinking about the multi-coloured, sparkly scales.
